Emotional Intelligence, sometimes referred to as EQ or EI, is the ability to understand your own feelings and emotions, as well as understand the feelings and emotions of others. The personal qualities found in individuals with high EQ/EI – such as perseverance, self-control, and skill in getting along with others – are strong contributors to workplace harmony, retention, and long-term career achievement. In this session, you will learn about the 4 competencies of emotional intelligence and the role they play – in both the hiring process and in attaining workplace success.

What is Kick-Off Monday: Kick-Off Monday is a motivational, educational, and networking program designed to help you prepare for the week ahead, sharing conversation, contacts, and job-search information in a relaxed, friendly environment. It is a “place to go” to focus on your job search or career transition and network with others. Sessions are free and LIVE in-person at the TampaBay-Job-Links office of Gulf Coast JFCS. Registration is required.

Goals:

• Kick-start your week with renewed energy and focus
• Learn job-search and career transition skills and strategies from experts
• Practice your 30-second commercial in a relaxed, safe environment
• Exchange ideas, information, and experiences with others
• Ask job-search questions
• Create an action plan for the week

• 30-Second commercials
• The topic of the week
• Candidate successes and challenges
• Individual action plans for the week

Materials Needed: No materials are needed.

Program Length:  1½ hours   1:00 PM – 2:30 PM.  Participants should plan to arrive 15 minutes early. The program will begin and end on time.

Who Should Attend: Unemployed and underemployed individuals who want to prepare and focus their job-search plan for the week in a welcoming environment.
