Welcome to the World of the Jewish Federation:

Where the Jewish values of compassion, charity, generosity, and responsibility inspire us to improve the quality of life for people in our community, in Israel, and around the world every day.

It is time to meet the challenges of modern Jewish life, both at home and overseas, and to provide the financial resources needed to fund the many services, programs, and activities that are demanded of us to sustain and continue to grow a strong, vital, and vibrant Jewish life.

SHINE A LIGHT

What is the Jewish Federation of Florida's Gulf Coast all about?

Ensuring the continuity of Jewish life and culture locally, in Israel and around the world.

Building Jewish Identity and Culture

We energize Jewish identity for all, funding Hillels of the Florida Suncoast, Birthright Israel, the local Jewish Educators Council, the Florida Holocaust Museum, and the Federation’s PJ Library and young family programming. We also run programs like the Tampa Bay Jewish Film Festival, Israel Independence Day, Heritage Day at the Rays, The Tribe Young Adult Division and sponsor many community-wide events like the Tampa Bay Food Festival. We connect everyone to the beauty of Jewish culture!

Supporting and Connecting to Israel

We run the Jewish Community Relations Committee plus events that promote Israel. We're connected to the JCPA, the Israel Action network, and offer advocacy training programs. We fund programs on the ground in Israel; Recent areas of focus have included youth at risk, Ethiopian olim transitions, food insecurity, and protection from and response to terror. We also send young adults and teens to Israel through Fed Fellows and scholarships, and partner actively with our sister city region.

Community Planning and Informing

The Federation brings together agencies through the Leadership Council and partners across the region to plan for a secure future. We are a 1/3 partner in the TOP Jewish Foundation, completed a demographic study in 2017, and fund home delivery of the Jewish Press. We maintain a community calendar and eNewsletter; and our one-on-one concierge services to those who call and email the office looking for references for everything from professionals to places to eat to where to live or go for help.

Caring for our most vulnerable

Through funding the work of Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, Jewish War Veterans, Menorah Manor, Jewish Burial Society, and Benjamin Tower Foundation, the Federation ensures that those in the most dire of need are taken care of. In 2017, the Federation was proud to secure $60,000 in emergency funding for the repair work needed at our local Jewish cemetery in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
