CBI - Kickoff Mitzvah Project

9:00AM - 10:30AM

WHERE: Daystar Life Center  - Daystar Edible Garden at 1055 28th Street South, St Pete, 33712
We will have an introduction on volunteering at Daystar Edible Garden.
Daystar Life Center provides the necessities of life to our neighbors in need in order to alleviate hunger, homelessness and hopelessness. Volunteers are welcome Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30-11:30am. No experience is necessary. You can stay for as long or as short as you like. There are activities in a range of physical activity levels. They have wheelchair/walker accessible raised beds so they can welcome volunteers of all abilities.
October - May is the best growing season for Florida so they are currently planting out the beds with everything! They are planting a variety of leafy greens (collards, kale, mustard greens, lettuces), root vegetables (carrots, beets, turnips), eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, herbs and flowers. Harvest days are once a week on Wednesday’s. You will harvest and then package everything ready to be given away in the food pantry.
