  • Speaker:               Arthur Sissman

Assuming that your goal in building a genealogical tree is to place unknown potential relatives in your tree through any means possible — family Bible, historical documentation, family history and lore or DNA match connections, Arthur Sissman will discuss the components of the 3 Legged Square Topped Stool Protocol. He will use this protocol to demonstrate how he puts two separate branches together, using DNA, shared matches and most recent common ancestors. Sissman will also explain strategies for maximizing the impact of DNA testing companies in pursuit of making genetic cousins into genealogical cousins.

Sissman has been engaged in family history genealogy since 1999 and genetic genealogy (DNA) since 2015. He has built over 30 family history trees for his various family surname lines and through DNA matching, has found unknown relatives using his methods and built out one  family history tree by 150 persons in 10 days.

Sissman leads the online Jewish Genealogy Special Interest Group and a DNA SIG. He gives talks and leads workshops on DNA testing and other topics. He is a member of the Genealogical Society of Collier County, Lee County Genealogical Society and various Jewish Genealogical Societies.

In-person attendees can socialize and use JGSTB’s library before watching Sissman together via Zoom.
