Dr. Sandra Schamroth Abrams is a distinguished educator and education researcher. Across her scholarship, Abrams focuses on agentive learning, methodological innovation, and layered meaning making that can disrupt convention, promote social responsibility, and provide new avenues for pedagogical discovery. Abrams is an author or editor of more than 100 works, and she has delivered more than 120 presentations nationally and internationally. Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Abrams is a dedicated advocate for Sharsheret, a non-profit organization providing support to women and families facing breast and ovarian cancer. Having witnessed the transformative impact of Sharsheret's programs, she actively contributes to their mission as a volunteer.
Liat Golan, RD, LDN, is a Registered Dietitian and Florida State Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist.She is a graduate of Florida International University’s coordinated undergraduate program in Dietetics, along with a B.S. degree in Food & Nutrition Science. She also attained certification in Weight Management from the American Dietetic Association. For several years, Liat counseled individuals helping them manage their weight and various health situations including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, digestive problems, hypertension, autoimmune and thyroid conditions. She has extensive experience educating both individuals and groups on nutritional wellness and helping them create tailored and realistic nutrition and lifestyle programs to meet their individual needs. Liat passionately believes that the power of food prevents and manages illness and maintains optimal health. She helps people make realistic and gradual changes to their current eating habits and food choices.
Michelle Mavorah serves as the Southeast Regional Director for Sharsheret, bringing over 25 years of professional experience in business development, marketing, and fundraising. A graduate of the University of South Florida, Michelle’s extensive career spans both New York and South Florida, where she has successfully worked with a variety of organizations in the for-profit and non-profit sectors.
In her role at Sharsheret, Michelle is responsible for overseeing all local programmatic initiatives within the Southeast region. This includes driving outreach and educational efforts, building strategic partnerships, and leading fundraising and development initiatives. Her expertise in building relationships and advancing organizational missions enables her to foster a strong sense of community and support for those affected by breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
