Temple Beth-El seeks a dynamic, relationship-focused Membership & Community Engagement Coordinator to serve as a welcoming presence and key connector within our vibrant Reform Jewish community. This full-time, on-site position is responsible for fostering meaningful member engagement, increasing participation in congregational life, and strengthening connections between members, programs, and Temple leadership.

A primary focus of this role is driving participation in Temple programs, services, and events through proactive outreach, attendance tracking, engagement initiatives, and follow-up communication. The Coordinator also provides administrative and logistical support to clergy for lifecycle events, helping ensure a seamless and positive member experience during important milestones.

The ideal candidate is warm, organized, proactive, and passionate about helping individuals feel welcomed, valued, and connected within a sacred community.

Essential ResponsibilitiesMembership Engagement & Relationship Building

Serve as the primary operational contact for prospective and current members.
Support member onboarding and engagement through structured outreach and follow-up.
Maintain regular communication with members through phone calls, emails, and personal interactions.
Build meaningful relationships that encourage participation in Temple life.
Maintain accurate member and engagement records within the Temple's CRM/database.
Serve as a visible and welcoming presence at services, programs, and community events.
Program & Event Engagement

Coordinate and support Temple programs, events, and community gatherings.
Manage registrations, RSVPs, attendance tracking, and participation reporting.
Implement outreach strategies that increase attendance and member involvement.
Conduct pre-event communication and post-event follow-up to strengthen engagement and retention.
Analyze participation trends and provide recommendations to leadership.
Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers for programs and events.
Ensure alignment between event logistics, communications, and participation goals.
Clergy Support & Lifecycle Coordination

Provide administrative and logistical support for lifecycle events and clergy-related meetings.
Coordinate scheduling and event logistics for lifecycle ceremonies and gatherings.
Communicate logistical details between clergy and congregants.
Maintain accurate lifecycle-related records within internal systems.
Support follow-up communications and related administrative tasks.
Please Note: This position provides administrative coordination only. Pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and lifecycle relationship management remain the responsibility of Temple clergy.

Communications & Outreach

Support membership and engagement communications in collaboration with communications staff.
Promote Temple programs, services, and events through appropriate communication channels.
Ensure messaging reflects Temple Beth-El's mission, values, and brand.
Assist in creating timely and effective member outreach campaigns.
Data Management & Internal Collaboration

Maintain accurate engagement, attendance, and participation records.
Generate reports and engagement metrics for leadership review.
Track trends and identify opportunities to strengthen member involvement.
Serve as staff liaison to membership-related committees and initiatives.
Collaborate with clergy, staff, and lay leadership to support Temple goals.
Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with CRM databases, Microsoft Office, and digital communication platforms.
Experience coordinating events, programs, or community engagement initiatives preferred.
Experience working in a synagogue, nonprofit, educational, or community-based organization is a plus.
Understanding of Jewish culture, traditions, and congregational life is preferred.
Schedule & Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site position located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Regular evening and weekend hours are required to support services, programs, and special events. Scheduling flexibility will be coordinated with the supervisor based on organizational needs.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move throughout the Temple campus during programs and events.
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, people-centered environment.
