Currently, the most usual methods of conducting screening interviews are by phone and by video and/or online. Why? Because they are less expensive, simple, and efficient ways for a recruiter or hiring company to screen you “in” or “out.” In addition, they are just as important as a job interview, because they can determine whether you get to the next step in the interview process. If you’re looking for a job, you should (1) anticipate one of these types of interviews and (2) prepare for them. One avoidable error is to come across as unprepared or worse – uninterested. In this session, you’ll discover ways to make a positive impression to be invited in for a face-to-face interview.

WHAT IS LINKS:  LINKS is an acronym for Leads, Information, Networking, Know-how, and Strategies. It is an educational and motivational program designed to help candidates prepare for the week ahead and to share conversation, contacts, and job-search information in a relaxed, friendly environment. For the unemployed professional, LINKS is a “place to go” to focus on the job search when others go to work on Monday Mornings. LINKS sessions are free and open to the public. Reservations are required.

Materials Needed:
No materials are needed.

Program Length:
1½ hours.  Plan to arrive 15 minutes early.

Who Should Attend:
Unemployed and underemployed individuals looking to work in a professional environment and seeking relevant and practical information or advice regarding the next steps in their job search or career path. This includes individuals in mid-career transition, women re-entering the workforce after a hiatus, military veterans transitioning to the civilian workforce, recent college graduates launching their careers, and mature workers not ready or able to retire.

Cost to Attend:
Free for TBJL Program participants and guests.

Dress:
Business casual.

Out of consideration for other participants, we ask that all candidates refrain from wearing fragrances, perfume, and cologne.
