You have spent all those years and hours researching your ancestors and your living kin to create a history of those who came before you and after you.  Your extended family would very much like to learn about their ancestors and their living kin who you have so diligently discovered and documented.  How do you introduce your family to their ancestors and to their living kin?  There are several ways to create a genealogical heirloom that will be your legacy to your family and to their descendants yet to be born. This presentation will review alternative approaches for linking the past to the present and to preserve it for the future. Anyone can do it.  Everyone should.

This presentation will discuss how to use modern genealogy software to automatically organize your research and to generate a meaningful family history.  Examples will be shown of several approaches - print, digital and lecture – to present your findings, but emphasis will be given to print media as the simplest and most permanent way to preserve and to distribute your family history. It is easier and less expensive than you might think to self-publish your family tree.  Your family will love you for it.  The time to do it is now.

About the speaker: Bill Israel is a founding member and Past President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay (JGSTB), a past Board Member of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) and of the IAJGS Litvak and Latvian Special Interest Groups. He has traveled to and visited his ancestral towns in Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus.  He has made numerous presentations on genealogy at IAJGS conferences, genealogical societies, and other organizations. He has more than 40 years of experience in researching his extended families, publishing a family history  book, and in chairing numerous family reunions.
