Dear Federation supporters and friends:


As the new president of the Jewish Federation of Florida’s Gulf Coast, it is thrilling for me to have the opportunity to help us further our mission of ensuring continuity of Jewish life and culture locally, in Israel and around the world. I have many goals that I’d like to achieve during my tenure, and one that is very important to me is the revitalization of our JCRC.


JCRC stands for Jewish Community Relations Council. It is the Jewish outreach to our surrounding community. Unfortunately, in these troubled times when the level of anti-Semitic events in the United States continues to hit new highs, having a strong JCRC is more important than ever.


Fortunately, Stuart Berger, an active member of our Jewish community for many years, has agreed to work with me in this important task by taking on the role of being chair of the JCRC. Stuart was the president of the Greater Tampa Bay Unit of B’nai B’rith for 12 years. For 10 years he has been the lead in organizing the PRIMER (Promoting Responsibility in Middle East Reporting) annual awards ceremony that recognizes the individual in Tampa Bay who best embodies the motto that “silence is NOT golden” when dealing with anti-Jewish and anti-Israel bias in the media. Stuart also led the Pinellas County Interfaith Committee during his time as a Federation employee. This committee, composed of religious leaders of differing faiths, was active in the fight to save Darfur, and was instrumental in creating an Earth Day event attended by nearly 300 folks. 


At this critical time, we are asking for volunteers to join our JCRC.  Our first meeting will be held via ZOOM, on September 30th at 6PM. Hopefully, we will be able to have live meetings going forward.
